Research Specialties

Due to our comprehensive experience in conducting research for over three decades, Genealogy Adventures has gained expertise in many research areas such as American, French-Canadian, German, French, Eastern European, United Kingdom. In addition we have had great success in African American and Native American research efforts.  Our knowledge is your gain!

African American

The subject area of African American research has always been a challenge due to the lack of organization of pertinent record sources.  Over the past decade, we have been able to have success in documenting African American family histories by using a variety of records including special census schedules, bank records, funeral home records, plantation journals/memoires, and transcripts of personal interviews with former slaves.    In additional to these types of sources there are pertinent records available at the state and county level where the families lived.  Beginning in 1870, the records of African Americans were generally included with those of the White population.

Native American

Challenges similar to those for conducting African American research have existed for Native American families.  However, more records have been collected and identified which help to establish lineages based on special Indian Census schedules, Tribal Enrollment Records, Cherokee Claims, Trading Post/Trapper Journals, Church records and other records pertinent to the locality where they lived.
